this is probably my favorite of all my polaroid time-zero shots. i think she looks contemplative and convalescent, as might a new, first time mother.

polaroid pronto-b!
time-zero film

This is a remarkable photo.
I could look at it forever! ^^
It really defines the phrase 'drawing with light'.
I love it <3

I like how you turned the camera to use the bottom of the polaroid as negative space.

thanks. this was shot with the prontob, whose viewfinder does not line up with the lens. you also have to estimate focus. so... not an easy shot, despite appearances. just bought some good stuff (time-zero not so expired) last night on ebay!

That's quite impressive! I also know all too well the joys of estimating focus (the swc is a rangefinder and it's viewfinder does not measure distance, and as I recently discovered, hyperfocal focusing is NOT a good method of focusing, even at small apertures).

That's good about the film! Ever thought of switching to Fuji instant film when the polaroid is dead? Cameras like the Mamiya 600SE also make incredible images.

also... how can you throw around phrases such as, "when the polaroid is dead"?

haha I meant the brand, but not instant film in general :P

If I had the capital, I'd buy their technology. As you must know, they are looking to sell it off but haven't found a buyer. I think it would be a smart investment for anyone, just needs some good marketing and an appropriate price point.

hopefully they will make it inexpensive enough for someone to buy, even a small manufacturer. they won't make money on it as it is now.

i think i'll get a polaroid back for my holgas, as fuji has film for those. i also have a daylab pinhole, and i have used fujifilm in it. i'll probably be forced to bite the bullet and get a real camera, though. ;-)

so whats the particularity of the time-zero film? is it the high contrast or is that from the lens? perhaps the colours themselves =P

i so need to learn more about films

it's just the way the film is. its color. its painterly feel. the going rate is about 100 us dollars for a packet now, i think.

I love the soft focus and lighting of this picture. I also compliment you on the blending and shifting of the colors and tones, because it is absolutely beautiful, and I commend you even more if that wasn't by accident. The only thing I would change would be to trim the left side a bit. (I'm not sure what that white sun-type thing is coming in from the edge of the frame, but it distracts and detracts from an otherwise phenomenal photograph.)

you can't trim this. this is a time-zero polaroid. i do not manipulate time-zero polaroids. that would be blashphemy! it is what it is. that border is part of the picture. that fan is from a dirty roller from a 1970s camera. the control of knowing what the lens will do with conditions of light is mine. pola love. pola magic.

I did some looking up on the the replacement films that polaroid mentionned but they all seem to overexpose your photos. Which film will you be using in the future?

:iconequivoque:

they have one called blend that has an nd filter built into it. i think it is really just 779. blend is expensive, so i think i will buy another sx-70 and modify it with an nd filter. the trouble is the replacement films are fast.
