Ellie and Carl

This is the best photo I have of my grandparents as they appear as I best remember them. I took this photo before I was interested in photography (with my grandfather's old Pentax), but I loved it then, as I do now. Sadly, the original photo has been cropped and resides in a square frame, so this is a scan from a photo printed from a heat damaged negative. Editing almost always means eliminating things from the frame, but sometimes love prevents us from doing so. Green evening, my grandmother's roses, her white gold watch, their neighbor's house... none of these details exist anymore, so I leave them here now.
